About 1,700 customers lose power in Portsmouth due to equipment failure, most restored

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — More than a thousand customers were without power in Portsmouth early Monday morning as crews worked to restore service.

According to Dominion Energy, roughly 1,700 customers lost power just before 5:30 a.m., primarily in and near the Churchland area of Portsmouth. The outage was caused by failed equipment.
