Driver hospitalized after vehicle slams into Portsmouth shop

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A woman was hospitalized with minor injuries after her vehicle crashed into a Portsmouth business early Monday morning. Portsmouth Police confirmed the incident occurred around 2 a.m. at Portsmouth Alignment, located at 3119 Elm Avenue.

The business owner told WAVY this is the second time a vehicle has hit the building since he moved the shop to that corner in the 1970s. While the property is insured, the damage is expected to result in a long-term closure.

The driver was the only person injured in the collision, according to police. Following the crash, emergency responders transported her to a local hospital for treatment of minor injuries…
