NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY)– Crews in Norfolk are responding to an overnight house fire.
According to officials, crews were called to the area of Grove Avenue and E Ocean View Ave just after 2 a.m. for the report of a smoke investigation. When crews arrived on scene, in the 1700 block of Ocean View Avenue, they found a home on fire and quickly upgraded it to a structure fire response.
Crews made an interior attack to address the fire on both floors. Upon entering the home, firefighters learned the fire extended to the attic space and conditions were becoming untenable. Crews realized the fire had been burning long enough to burn through the second floor in one area of the home and quickly transitioned to exterior firefighting efforts.
