Bringing a dash of Parisian elegance to Virginia Beach, Macaron Tart is Town Center’s edible jewel box, filled with many sweets and indulgent food. Walking in, you are greeted by a pleasant, sweet, and fruity aroma as well as adorable crafted goodies. Each macaron sits neatly arranged, surrounded by a wide variety of other delights. Flavors shift frequently, yet something familiar always remains on display. Macaron Tart is a hidden gem along one of Virginia Beach’s busiest streets.
On my visit, flavors like lavender and vanilla stood out, bringing together sweet and savory. The lavender macaron smelled fresh, and the filling further emphasized the flavor. Though basic at first glance, the vanilla showed depth. It was clearly built carefully, so each part mattered equally. On another note, the s’mores version was also one of my favorites, with dark tones of chocolate and hints of marshmallow creme, creating something sticky and sweet that stayed on my mind well after finishing it. They also had a very decent crunch to them, not too hard and not too soft.
Not all flavors hit the mark. The espresso macaron leaned too heavily into bitterness and lost that signature smooth edge. The strawberry version didn’t fully deliver either; its taste fell short next to the other flavors I tried. Instead of fresh fruit essence, it leaned on a one-note sweetness that felt like a missed opportunity…
