VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The paid parking plan for the Virginia Beach convention and sports centers set to take effect April 1 has been postponed, the city announced Tuesday afternoon.

This comes after 10 On Your Side reported last week that the city of Virginia Beach was going to start charging peope to park at the Convention Center and the Sports Center at the Oceanfront. Parking was to cost $1 for the first hour, with costs going up incrementally, with a $10 maximum parking charge per day.
While City Council did not take a vote following an Oct. 21 presentation of the proposal, councilmembers agreed that paying to park at the convention and sports centers was the way to go. The city said in a Facebook post that postponing the parking plan came “following recent direction from City Council.”…
