VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — For seven months, a Virginia Beach family waited for word that someone would be held accountable for the death of 66-year-old David Wade, the man they called everyone’s best friend.
Family remembers man hit by car at Chesapeake gas station
It was the afternoon of July 8 when Wade, of Virginia Beach, pulled into the parking lot of a gas station on South Military Highway in Chesapeake to visit a pick-up truck loaded with ripe watermelons before he was struck by a car at the gas station and died.
Kimberly M. Horton, 49, was indicted Tuesday and taken into custody Wednesday and faces a charge of involuntary DUI manslaughter in connection to a crash that killed Wade and injured the Watermelon Man.
