VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Many people across Hampton Roads say they were surprised to see higher energy bills this winter. After hearing from viewers, 13News Now brought those concerns directly to Dominion Energy to find out what is driving the increase and what help may be available.
13News Now’s Germyah Batey spoke with Utibe Bassey, Dominion Energy’s vice president for customer experience. Company leaders say her visit to Hampton Roads highlights how seriously Dominion is taking concerns about high energy bills.
Why energy bills are higher
Bassey said Dominion’s goal has always been to provide reliable power at an affordable cost. However, she said several factors have pushed bills higher in recent months.
