‘You saved her life’: The family of a crash victim meets Virginia Beach firefighters

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — One week after a high-speed collision at the intersection of Independence Boulevard and Holland Road in Virginia Beach, a local father stood face-to-face with the men who made sure his daughter didn’t die inside her car.

The meeting, arranged by 10 On Your Side, brought together the family of 26-year-old Naomi Kiesow and the Virginia Beach Fire Department crew who performed a complex extrication in under 20 minutes.

Naomi was pinned inside her Mazda after it was struck by a pickup truck, which Virginia State Police say was driven by 18-year-old Leon Pena of New Mexico. Police say he was driving more than 100 miles per hour…
