Nearly 200 summonses issued in Virginia Beach Police Department’s Traffic Blitz

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Units with the Virginia Beach Police Department issued nearly 200 summonses during a Traffic Blitz over the weekend.

The aim of Traffic Blitz was to ensure the safety of the community and to clean up the streets, according to a social media post.

Units included the Traffic Safety Unit, Motor Carrier, Homeland Security, K-9 and State Police. Police said they were removing threats of DUI and reckless driving.

Traffic Blitz resulted in 111 traffic stops, 186 summonses issued (42 from State Patrol for reckless driving, speeding and cell phone use), three DUI arrests, two firearms seized, one permit warranted and one class misdemeanor…
