PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) – A jury found Cedric Rashad Davis, Jr. not guilty on all charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with a deadly shooting in 2002.
The shooting happened the evening of Feb. 1, 2022. Officers responded to the scene in the 1800 block of Portsmouth Boulevard, outside the Sportsplex, for a shooting and located two teen victims. 17-year old Richard “Wink” Tucker died from his injuries; the other teen was seriously injured. Police located another victim, an adult male, near the area of Highland Road and Lansing Ave. suffering from life-threatening gunshot wounds. The adult victim, Marcellus “Dee” Whitehead was identified in court as Tucker’s mentor. Whitehead testified that he was shot nine times and said he suffers from constant nerve pain and PTSD.
