Virginia Beach police seeking assistance with 11-year cold case after remains found

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Authorities in Virginia Beach are continuing efforts to identify a man whose skeletal remains were discovered more than a decade ago, one of hundreds of unresolved cases across the state.

The Virginia Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is currently working on 326 unidentified deaths statewide. Among them is a case from the Hampton Roads region involving remains found in 2015 near Virginia Beach Boulevard and Birdneck Road.

Investigators believe the man was between 40 and 65 years old. His remains were found scattered across a small area; reportedly, they were left by four-wheelers. Officials said the body had significantly decomposed, leaving only skeletal remains.
