VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) – The cherry blossoms at Red Wing Park in Virginia Beach are in full bloom, marking the start of a week-long festival beginning Friday, March 27. The Virginia Beach Cherry Blossom Festival is held in partnership with the Virginia Beach sister city of Miyazaki, Japan.
Running through April 3, the festival celebrates Japanese music, art, and culture. The schedule includes the introduction of a new nighttime illumination event and a series of weekend performances and demonstrations designed to showcase the beauty of the Yoshino cherry trees.
The festival schedule includes the first Nighttime Hanami experience, on Friday, March 27, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. This new event features illuminated Yoshino cherry trees, food, and vendors.
