Car club members speak out on safety following KempsRiver car meet shooting

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — Virginia Beach Police say it was an impromptu car meetup that led to a shooting at KempsRiver Crossing on Sunday night that injured seven people. So far, no arrests have been made.

Police say they attempted to break up the large impromptu car meetup when they heard the shots being fired. Of those injured, all are expected to survive.

“My prayers go out to them, and you know, the car community is going to be stronger and come together and support them,” said C3 Car Club member Anita Polk.

Days after the shooting, members of several Hampton Roads car clubs are speaking out. They say what happened on Sunday was an unfortunate night of violence and not associated with the local car scene…
