Virginia Beach begins to issue fines for speeding in school zones with cameras

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) — The City of Virginia Beach is set to begin issuing citations and fines to speeding drivers in several school zones installed with automated speed cameras.

Three school zone areas were equipped with cameras on Feb. 17, including Red Mill Elementary School, Centerville Elementary School and Great Neck Middle School/John B. Dey Elementary School. 4,659 warning notices were issued to speeding drivers for applicable weekdays from Feb. 17 to March 27, according to program data.

Starting April 1, drivers who speed in the three school zones will be issued citations and $100 fines…
