Ex-Navy reservist sentenced for pandemic-era fraud

NORFOLK, Va. (WAVY) – A former Navy service member and Navy reservist was sentenced on March 12 to two years in prison for defrauding a pandemic-era relief program.

Tiara Jenee Bryant, 36, was also ordered to pay $128,844 in restitution for wire fraud involving a fraudulent small business loan.

The sentence follows an investigation into a loan Bryant received through the Small Business Administration (SBA) Economic Injury Disaster Loan program. The federal program was designed to help small businesses meet financial obligations and operating expenses during the COVID-19 pandemic…
