Suffolk man already serving prison term gets additional 3 years in federal COVID fraud case

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — A Suffolk man already behind bars on a federal firearms conviction has been sentenced to an additional three years in prison after admitting to multiple fraud schemes tied to pandemic relief funds and counterfeit checks.

Federal prosecutors said 34-year-old Raymond Antoine Wyche was sentenced Thursday for conspiracy to commit fraud involving disaster benefits, making false statements, and bank fraud. The sentence will be served after he completes the prison term he is already serving.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Wyche is currently incarcerated on a separate seven-year sentence stemming from a 2022 conviction for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Officials said this marks his third federal felony conviction…
