Firefighters contain blaze on East 27th Street in Norfolk; no injuries reported

NORFOLK, Va. — A Norfolk home on East 27th Street was damaged by fire Saturday evening.

The fire was reported at 10 p.m., and arriving firefighters found a two-story home with smoke coming from the second floor and smoldering fire on the porch, according to Norfolk Fire-Rescue. Residents had extinguished a fire on the front porch before firefighters arrived, but the fire traveled up the porch post to the second floor balcony.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames before the fire extended into the house. The fire was called under control at 10:19 p.m., and no injuries were reported…
