Firefighters battle residential structure fire on Elm Avenue in Portsmouth

PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — Firefighters battled a residential structure fire on Elm Avenue in Portsmouth Sunday morning, according to Portsmouth Fire Rescue & Emergency Services.

On April 26 at around 12:11 a.m., the department responded to a residential structure fire in the 3000 block of Elm Avenue. When crews arrived, they saw smoke coming from the home, with fire being visible from the outside.

Crews initiated the working fire incident action plan, starting an aggressive offensive attack on the fire. The fire was brought under control by 12:21 a.m. and contained to the area it originated in. The fire was declared to be out at 12:28 a.m…
