CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) – A weekend trip to the Outer Banks is about to get more expensive. Tolls on the Chesapeake Expressway, which is the primary roadway that leads there, will increase May 1.
In split vote, Chesapeake City Council approves increase to toll rates
In February, Chesapeake City Council voted 5-4 to increase some toll rates on both the Chesapeake Expressway and the Dominion Boulevard Veterans Bridge. Voting yes: CouncilMembers Bunn, Jefferies, Ritter, Smith, and Wes; Voting no: Council Members King, Newins, Ward, and Whitaker.
