Developers behind tallest building in Va. hope to make it symbol of community pride

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — For more than a year now, construction crews have descended en masse on the nearly 100 acres of land just east of St. Juliens Annex.

Surrounded by the southern branch of the Elizabeth River on two sides and St. Juliens Creek Annex and the Norfolk Southern Railroad on the others, much of the work has occurred out of the public view.

Monday, it was made clear that was about to change.

“This event today marks the beginning of the vertical construction,” said Patrick Y. Shim, managing director of LS GreenLink. “So we’re going to start going up, little by little. And by third quarter 2027, this project will be completed.”…
