VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — As gas prices remain elevated, more people are turning to electric bikes for transportation, fueling a growing debate over whether the fast-moving vehicles should be allowed on the Virginia Beach Oceanfront boardwalk and bike path.
E-bikes, which can reach speeds of up to 30 miles per hour without pedaling, have surged in popularity nationwide and locally, according to the Virginia Beach Police Department.
