WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A man was sentenced to over a year in prison after he brought a machine gun onto a Northwest D.C. charter school’s grounds in 2025, the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia said Thursday.
According to the USAO, James Adrian Brewer, 20, was attending the Goodwill Excel Center Adult Charter School in 2025. On Sept. 3, 2025, an administrator saw “what appeared to be a firearm tucked into his waistband.”
After he was confronted, Brewer turned over the weapon. School administrators then turned it over to officers with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD)…
