WHEATON, Md. — One person is dead after a crash in the area of Viers Mill Road and Gail Street early Monday morning. Viers Mill Road is closed in both directions between Claridge Road and Connecticut Avenue while police conduct an investigation into what exactly happened.
Montgomery County Police officers were first called to the crash just after 2 a.m. When officers arrived, they found the crash involved a vehicle and a pedestrian on a scooter. Police say the person on the scooter, only identified as a man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver in the striking vehicle stayed on scene.
Drivers in the area of the crash are urged to use alternate routes and expect significant delays Monday morning while the crash investigation is underway. Police are still working to determine a cause. It is not known whether the driver involved will face any charges…
