The Lancaster Police Chief, Easton McDonald, has resigned just four months after taking the position, as announced on Tuesday (June 9). The decision was described as mutual between McDonald and city officials, though no specific reasons were provided. McDonald was appointed in February, bringing nearly 30 years of law enforcement experience to the role.
Lancaster Mayor Jaime Arroyo expressed gratitude for McDonald’s service, stating, “Public safety remains a key priority, and I am focused on supporting the bureau during this transition.” Captain Randall Zook has been named as the acting chief in the interim.
McDonald, previously the assistant chief of police in Alexandria, Virginia, was one of three finalists for the Lancaster position.
