JOHNSTON, Iowa (WHO) — Over 100 Iowa National Guard soldiers are being deployed to Washington, D.C. later this week.

On Tuesday, the Iowa National Guard announced that about 120 soldiers will support the District of Columbia National Guard and other agencies with America250 and Freedom 250 events in Washington, D.C., as part of their six-month-long deployment. Officials said the soldiers will be serving in a Title 32, Section 502(f) status, with the primary objective of ensuring the safety and security of those in the nation’s capital.
