WASHINGTON, DC — Severe weather is set to return to the Washington area Thursday, bringing a Flood Watch and the risk of scattered strong storms by mid to late afternoon. The day started cloudy and mild, with a few showers around the region and temperatures in the mid- to upper-70s.
Most places should stay mostly dry through the morning, although an isolated shower or stray thunderstorm cannot be ruled out.
Storms Build After Midafternoon
Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 80s and near 90 degrees later Thursday, along with higher humidity. Showers may develop off and on around midday, but the most significant severe weather threat is not expected until after 2 p.m.
Forecasters say storms could affect the evening commute and continue through sunset.
Flood Watch Covers The Region
