Following his death on July 4, 2026, at age 93, Gil Weidenfeld’s family, friends and former colleagues have reflected on his life and the undeniable legacy he left behind in the city of Greenbelt. Weidenfeld was one of Greenbelt’s longest-serving mayors, spending 22 years on the city council, including 14 years as mayor.
