Vermont’s Harmony Edosomwan takes Miss Black USA crown

The lights were bright as the finalists of the 39th annual Miss Black USA pageant stepped on the stage at the University of the District of Columbia’s (UDC) Theatre of the Arts. The women put on their best show, but ultimately Miss Black Vermont, Harmony Edosomwan, came out on top.

Shortly after being introduced, the preliminary contestants were narrowed down to 11 finalists, including a people’s choice voted on by fans. Throughout the evening, the ladies answered interview questions, showcased their talents and dazzled in evening gowns before the judges tallied their winners.

Edosomwan, a chef and owner of Harmony’s Kitchen in Winooski, Vt., couldn’t believe it when her name was called as the next Miss Black USA. She took time to acknowledge Vermont’s small but mighty Black population…
