We had an exclusive report earlier that Steinway pianos were seen being moved out of the arts centre. Apparently they are getting rid of them all. Local reporter Sarah K. Burris tells slippedisc: Steinway told me that they’re moving them all over to the Georgetown showroom where the owner is also selling his pianos at a high discount because he wants to retire. When I asked Steinway why the Kennedy Center would be selling all of their Steinways, she said “Well, they’re closed.”
Sarah reports on Alternet: Lewis Piano Movers was tasked with moving the Steinway grand pianos, as shown in photos. The pianos are valued at about $187,000 to $246,900 or more if they’re brand new.
The Kennedy Center has held used Steinway piano sales in the past, so AlterNet reached out to Jenny at Steinway in Washington D.C. to ask if the sale was happening again this year. She explained that it would not, as the Kennedy Center had closed.…
