Ohio Stadium to have new addition for homecoming game vs. Maryland

It is homecoming weekend for Ohio State, and the Buckeyes are preparing to take on the Maryland Terrapins as OSU will welcome thousands of alumni back to campus. The weather looks like a perfect fall afternoon, and all signs are pointing to a Scarlet and Gray victory.

Last week, the Buckeyes brought out the “Sub-Zero” all-white uniforms for the victory over Iowa on the road. This week, Ohio State will stay with its traditional home uniform of a scarlet jersey and gray pants with the silver helmet decorated with Buckeye leaves. It’s what most fans expect for a homecoming football game.

However, it was revealed earlier today that Ohio State plans to add a little flair to the field. As was the case a few weeks ago when the Buckeye Stripe was added to the end zones, there will be a different addition to the playing surface this week when Maryland comes to town. Instead of the traditional Block O at midfield, the old-school Buckeye leaf and nut will be added to the Block O to give that nostalgic feeling. From the looks of the online rendering, it’s going to be a sharp look.

From a uniform tweak to updated video and sound to new field-level box seats, Ross Bjork is really trying to make the Ohio State fan experience second to none. The addition of fun graphics painted on the field only adds to that experience both in the stadium and when watching on television. As long as the Buckeyes take care of business against the Terps, it will be a perfect day in Columbus…
