Woman pepper-sprays 2 boys who tried to rob her, DC police say

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it arrested two boys after they tried to rob a woman in Northeast early Friday morning.

MPD said the 9-year-old and a 13-year-old, both of Northeast D.C., face charges related to the crime, which took place around 12:40 a.m.

Investigators said the boys were armed when they approached a woman in the 500 block of 10th St. NE, assaulted her and tried to take her purse. The woman pepper-sprayed one of the boys and the other one took out a knife and lunged at her multiple times, according to MPD.

The woman called 911 and officers came and arrested the boys.
