Maryland man who robbed Georgetown business multiple times makes first court appearance

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A Maryland man who was arrested for robbing one Georgetown business multiple times made his first appearance on Monday, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.

The release said that Roberto McBean, 30, robbed the Glover Park Market on 37th St. NW several times between Nov. 23, 2023, and Jan. 8, 2024. Officials said that during this time, he robbed the store of over $1,000.

According to the USAO, McBean frequently used a gun in the robberies, ordering store employees to open the cash register and give him money.

FBI agents with the Washington Field Office arrested McBean on Friday after he was indicted. He made his first appearance in D.C. on Monday, and his detention hearing was set for Thursday, Feb. 1.
