Lockport Illinois Couple Charged in Connection with Capitol Riot

Suburban pair become latest Illinoisans facing legal consequences for January 6th

A couple from Lockport has found themselves entangled in legal proceedings related to the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot, as revealed by federal court records. Kelly Fontaine and Brian Dula are now confronting four charges, including knowing and unlawful entry to a restricted building, disorderly conduct in restricted buildings, disorderly conduct in and around the U.S. Capitol, and parading and picketing in and around the Capitol. These charges, outlined in a criminal complaint and arrest warrant dated Wednesday, mark Fontaine and Dula as the 45th and 46th Illinois residents to face legal consequences stemming from the chaotic events on that fateful day.

According to an FBI agent mentioned in the complaint, Fontaine and Dula embarked on a journey to Washington on January 5, 2021, to participate in the “Take America Back” rally. The agent alleges that Fontaine had disclosed these plans on Facebook in December 2020. Fontaine shared visual documentation of their travels, including a photo en route to Washington and subsequent images capturing the march from the Ellipse to the U.S. Capitol and from restricted areas on the Capitol grounds.
