Man on scooter dies from fatal hit-and-run in DC, 1 injured

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A man on a scooter was killed during a hit-and-run in D.C. on Friday night.

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said that a car and two men on a scooter were traveling westbound in the center lane on the Whitney Young Memorial Bridge just after 10 p.m. The car hit the back of the scooter, throwing both men off the scooter and into the roadway.

While in the road, one of the men was hit by another car and died at the scene.

The driver of the scooter was taken to a hospital for treatment of “critical injuries,” police say.

Both striking vehicles fled the scene without providing aid or identifying themselves.
