WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — Police in the District said that a special police officer from a private security company shot a man who disarmed an officer during an attempted robbery on Sunday.
The Metropolitan Police Department said officers were called to the 800 block of 7th St NW at around 6:30 p.m., after reports of a shooting inside an business.
Investigators said a man entered the business armed and followed a special police officer into a back room where the officer was disarmed.

At that point a second special police officer engaged the man and ultimately fired their weapon, hitting the man.
The man was taken to hospital where he was being treated for critical injuries.
Police said the Criminal Investigations Division and the Internal Affairs Division were investigating the incident.
