The lucky winner delivered six jackpot-winning Pick 5 tickets to Maryland Lottery Headquarters in Baltimore, where he collected the biggest total claimed at one time in the twice-daily game this year.
He says that he is “convinced (the win is) a product of his unique outlook on life.”
“I’m just a regular guy, live a regular life, so it’s not like I can do that much,” the husband and father told Lottery officials. “But if you look and listen for the opportunities as you go about your day, there are so many ways to help people.
“If I can, I help people. Pretty simple.” He does this, he told officials, without looking for any kind of reimbursement. “I’m a believer in karma, so I figure the positivity and generosity will come back to me in some way.”
According to the winner, he is a long-time Lottery player, and has won a few big prizes over the year, none of which match his latest windfall.
He said that he exclusively plays Pick 5, using numbers that match important family dates, purchasing multiple tickets at a time.
