On300 DB commit Kainoa Winston locked in with Michigan, enjoys BBQ at The Big House visit

On300 Washington (D.C.) Gonzaga defensive back Kainoa Winston gave Michigan a verbal commitment in mid-June.

Winston was considered a Penn State lean for the majority of the recruiting cycle. However, Winston loved his official visit to Michigan and made his decision just a few weeks later.

Fast forward to now, and Winston is still feeling great about his verbal pledge to the Wolverines.

“I’m feeling strong about Michigan,” Winston said. “I’m not going anywhere. I’m 100 percent Michigan. I’m just happy I don’t have to go through the recruiting process. I’m just getting to know the people at Michigan and staying committed. I’m focused on Michigan and my senior season. Michigan felt a lot like Gonzaga. There are a lot of similarities with education and football. It just felt like home. Good people and good vibe.”

Winston returned to Michigan for the BBQ at The Big House last weekend and once again felt right at home.

“It was fun,” Winston said. “We had the BBQ. I got to know a lot of different people. I worked on getting Jayden Sanders. We chopped it up a little bit. I got to see some of the other commits in my class, too. We got to do a camp. We played some games like kick ball and NCAA. I just wanted to get to know everybody. We have a group chat, but it was good to meet everyone in person. I’m trying to get close to everybody.”
