Wrong Way Collision Kills One, Injures Two in Early Morning Crash

WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Prince William County Police Department (PWCPD) is investigating a wrong-way crash that killed one person and seriously injured two others. 

According to a PWCPD media release, the incident happened Friday, September 13, 2024.

At approximately 6:07 a.m., PWCPD responded to reports of a two-vehicle accident in the area of Caton Hill Road near Killarney Drive.

An initial investigation revealed that the driver of a black 4-door 2017 Toyota Camry was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes when it collided head-on with a southbound 2015 Toyota Corolla.

The driver of the Camry, a 21-year-old Springfield woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. The driver of the Corolla, a 67-year-old Woodbridge woman, was also taken to the hospital with serious injuries.  

A passenger in the Camry, Elvis Gabriel Alvarez of Alexandria, was also transported to the hospital. Alvarez, 23, later died from his injuries.  

Both occupants in the Camry were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
