DC man cashes in $500K lottery ticket, finds another winning ticket for same payout a month later

WASHINGTON D.C. ( WJW ) – A man from Washington, D.C., is another $500,000 richer after cashing in a second winning lottery ticket for a DC Lottery drawing in just as many months.

The winner, identified as Phillip H., had claimed the first of his two Lucky For Life payouts shortly after the Aug. 12 drawing, according to the DC Lottery. The prize — $25,000 a year for life — was worth $500,000 in total.

At the time, the DC Lottery noted that the same drawing produced a second winner, albeit one who had not yet come forward.

But just over a month later, Phillip H. came to claim that prize, too.

“Phillip was mum about his second winning ticket because he couldn’t find it,” according to the lottery’s website.

Phillip H. has said he plans to use his payouts to renovate his home, buy a new truck, and “help with his volunteer efforts,” according to the lottery website.
