Alexandria hosting ribbon-cutting next weekend for new North Potomac Yard Park

A new park extension will be officially opening next weekend in the Potomac Yard neighborhood.

Mayor Justin Wilson and members of the City Council are set to attend an opening of North Potomac Yard Park (3601 University Drive) on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 8-9 a.m.

The new park is a 4.5 acre extension of the Potomac Yard Park and will extend the Potomac Yard trail, though commentors noted this trail does stop just short of the bridge and does not connect to the Four Mile Run trail.

The ribbon cutting will be on the north lawn near the playground and will be held rain or shine.

A release noted that there is limited parking on University Drive and additional parking in the JBG parking lot at 2900 Potomac Avenue, but the site’s also only a couple blocks north of the Potomac Yard Metro station.
