Jersey Shore father and son charged with participating in Jan. 6 riot at U.S. Capitol

WASHINGTON — A father and son from Ocean and Monmouth counties were charged this week with participating in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, according to federal authorities.

Richard Andrews, 72, of Brick, is accused of felonies related to assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers, in addition to obstruction of law enforcement during a civil disorder. He was also charged with federal misdemeanors of knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority, disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds, and disorderly conduct in the Capitol, according to U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia

His son, Keith Andrews, 49, of Howell, faces misdemeanor charges related to the riot. These include knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and parading, demonstrating, or picketing in any of the Capitol buildings, the statement said.
