A beloved member of a family in Washington DC was tragically shot dead just 12 days before his birthday , prompting his mother to give a touching farewell message for her “gold-hearted” son.
At around 6:17 a.m. on Thursday, Nov 14, police were called to the 1500 block of Benning Road in the Northeast after receiving a report of an unconscious person. Officers found 31-year-old Dashane Judd with obvious gunshot wounds unconscious and not breathing. When DC Fire and EMS arrived on the scene, they determined the person was dead since they could not locate any signs of life.
“As a mother of 5, I never thought I’d see the day I would be laying one of my precious babies to rest. This has to be the worst pain any mother has to bear,” the victim’s mom Vernettia wrote on a GoFundMe fundraiser. “He was very courageous. I cannot even put into words how I feel right now. He was a very kind person and yet we lose another young, golden-hearted Black man to gun violence .”
