The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) continues its efforts combating illegal firearms in Washington D.C. with a total of 48 weapons recovered over a one-week period. As reported on the MPD’s website, these recoveries are a part of the department’s strategy to “investigate and recover illegal firearms in Washington D.C. through intelligence-based policing to identify, interdict, and interrupt armed violent offenders within the District.”
