WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — D.C. police arrested a man Monday after he allegedly tried to stab two employees inside a business in Northwest on New Year’s Day.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD), on Jan. 1, at around 9 p.m., 26-year-old Warran Welcome of Northwest entered a store in the 1700 block of Corcoran Street despite being previously “barred” from the establishment. This is where the Safeway is located.

An employee told a security guard, who then approached Welcome to escort him out. Police said that is when Welcome pulled out a knife and tried to stab both employees before fleeing.
Neither of the employees were injured.
Officers arrested him on Monday, Jan. 6. He was charged with assault with a dangerous weapon (knife).
