Teenage boy arrested in string of Northwest DC robberies, police say

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said it charged a teenager for his involvement in eight robberies that happened in December and January throughout Northwest D.C.

Just after 12:15 p.m. on Jan. 24, MPD said the 17-year-old suspect approached someone in the 2000 block of Vermont Avenue NW. He motioned as if he had a weapon and demanded the victim’s money.

The suspect took the person’s phone and used an app to wire himself money before fleeing the scene.
