Witnesses report fire and smoke coming from manholes in DC’s Penn Quarters

WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — D.C. Fire and EMS crews responded to reports of smoke emanating from several manholes at the intersection of 3rd and E Streets NW.

The incident, which occurred at approximately 12:05 p.m., prompted the establishment of a safety zone as a precautionary measure.
