WASHINGTON, D.C. (7News) — D.C. Councilmember Charles Allen is not as excited as Mayor Muriel Bowser when it comes to talks of a new Commanders stadium at the old RFK Stadium site. In fact, Allen said he’s “deeply troubled” by the potential deal.
“Every economist under the sun is going to tell you, you don’t see the return on investment. It doesn’t spur the economic activity that you’d want to see,” the Ward 6 councilmember said while speaking Friday on WAMU 88.5 during the Politics Hour.
Last week, sources confirmed to 7News that the negotiations are still ongoing between the Washington Commanders ownership group and Bowser on a new NFL stadium where the old RFK Stadium sits, but no deal has been struck yet…
