DC man sentenced to 10 years for 2023 armed carjacking spree

WASHINGTON ( DC News Now ) — A D.C. man will spend the next 10 years in federal prison for a spree of armed carjackings in 2023, according to the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) for the District of Columbia.

The USAO states that Junious Plummer, 36, was sentenced Friday to 10 years in prison and three years of supervised release after pleading guilty in January to brandishing a firearm during a crime of violence.

According to court documents, on Aug. 11, 2023, around 7:30 a.m., Plummer approached two men sleeping in a blue Hyundai Elantra in a parking lot while holding a black handgun. He opened the driver’s side door and demanded that they get out of the car.

The victim then tried to close the door, but Plummer struck him with a handgun. Plummer then drove away with the driver’s phone still inside…
