WASHINGTON — Mayor Muriel Bowser has announced she plans to “fully fund” three D.C. programs that provide families with early education and child care services in her 2026 budget proposal.
Bowser announced the investment despite her current budget battle with Congress which has delayed the release of next year’s budget.
Currently the Republican-controlled U.S. House of Representatives has yet to vote on a Senate-approved bill that would allow the District to spend its 2025 budget. Due to the inaction from Congress, the District government is considering making $400 million cuts in city services…
