Chief Antonio DeVaul from the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Ta’Liyah Tapp, 24, of Temple Hills, Maryland, for possession of an unregistered firearm, illegal transport of a handgun in a vehicle, open alcohol container in a vehicle, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.
According to police, “On May 4, 2025, at approximately 3:00 am, while conducting traffic enforcement in the area of New Hampshire Avenue and Holton Lane, officers observed a vehicle make a prohibited U-turn, and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon approaching the vehicle, officers requested the license and registration from the driver. As the driver opened the glove compartment, officers observed the handle of a handgun in plain view. An open container of alcohol was also seen inside the vehicle. The driver was identified as Tapp.
Tapp was removed from the vehicle, and a probable cause search led to the recovery of a loaded handgun. The firearm was determined to be unregistered. As officers attempted to take Tapp into custody, she resisted arrest, pulling away and making verbal threats to fight and spit on the officers.
